Beautiful photo, a breathtaking pose and so many little details! I especially love the contrast of the bloody bodies and shaved head with the white lace clothing and gold wedding ring. Just lovely  congrats on the DD

You have to really look at the big picture to understand it, you, an artist of paper and pen, cannot understand the feelings that this evokes? You sound very bitter and it is a shame, your art work is lovely as well but I do not sense the same intensity as the image above. no matter the simplicity of the work it's the message that is important. Please take your rude and unnecessary comments somewhere that isn't Deviant art.

You consider yourself an artist? Honestly?? Last time I checked real artists don't go around bashing other artists because of jealousy.

You don't have to agree with all DD choices, but to sit here and tell me that my artwork isn't quality, saying things like "I'll round up some models, take them into the woods and splash some cheap red kids party drink on them and take some photo', because that's apparently enough to get qualified for a DD spot..." is fucking rude. You don't know what I went through to try and take this picture, or how long it took. You don't know how long I spent on post-processing.

Not only that, but you are basically calling everyone who has enjoyed this photo wrong. Clearly there are many people out there who see beauty and emotion in the photo, where you see nothing.

You have referred to my work as "sub-par" many times, and I will not take that. You don't know what you are talking about, and until you can create a portfolio anywhere close to mine, you can shut the fuck up.

You know now where some of us are busting our asses doing paintings for hours on end and ransacking the coffee kettle until early ours of the morning trying to write our best literature, just to get noticed, who knew?... I'll round up some models, take them into the woods and splash some cheap red kids party drink on them and take some photo', because that's apparently enough to get qualified for a DD spot...

There are different genres of art. I happen to volunteer to watch over the Horror/Macabre community for photography. Which is where I select my Daily Deviations from.
This thread of comments has greatly disappointed me, I am so sorry that you felt you had to belittle the artist and myself instead of moving on and going towards something you'd rather see. If you think that the quality of a DD has gone down, I would like to remind you that this genre has been featured for years and if you are just tuning in, I am also disappointed because it means you haven't been paying attention to the bar at the bottom of the site or the DD page for years.
This deviant deserves their DD for the mood, quality, editing, set up, conception of the idea, ability to put forward emotions through a single snap-shot, the fact their work is technically flawless, composition is important you know....so many reasons. And another reason being that I chose it, and I have the right to choose it.
The people busting their asses doing paintings and writing the best literature? They are handled by another volunteer.
I handle this genre.
If you have a problem with what is selected for a daily deviation by me, feel free to bring it up WITH ME instead of laying out your rude comments for the deviant. They didn't choose this. I did.
You're entirely welcome to your opinion, but sometimes it is better to walk away.

So bottom line is, easiest way to get an DD is via photography. Forgive me If It only occur to me, but I would typically imagine it as common sense that among all true forms of art, be it literature, painting or music, that photography could hardly be considered a true art form. I could go into detail but its not like that's really the issue here. This picture, not necessarily a bad picture, I don't find is on the same level as previous work I've seen.

Meaning, that I have seen both conventional art, and photographs that fall into the same class as the picture above, that outmatch it by far.

Now you may argue that some of the aspects of this particular photograph show quality, perhaps. I'm just used to opening up a daily deviation and always thinking to myself:"Wow I could never top that." I have witnessed many DD's in astonishment from artists that truly deserve the credit.

Now this may sound rude, but I was always under the impression that DD's are the best of the best, the ones that truly stand out among the crowd. Looking at the picture above, though as I said not necessarily a bad photograph, makes the quality control seem shabby, Like for instance "Hi I know this person really well lets make one of their art works a DD's."
Now that may not be the case here but still.

And lastly, You cant expect everyone to only voice their good opinions on a art-piece that has been made a DD. If some guy likes to draw stick-men and post them on his page and he keeps to himself, and I happen to stumble across some of his work, I'm not going to be a d!ck towards him because what he is doing is his own business. Take that same guy and make one of his stick-men a DD, then its a different story. There is a certain standard expected from a DD, and choosing sub par artwork  should reflect in that... which is what I am doing right now.

I myself am an artist of the books who dreams of obtaining a DD but I do not whine and complain to the heavens like some five year old who didn't get her cookie.  I find what you are demonstrating as childish and unethical, learn you place. There is no point in arguing over this because at the end of the day this person has a DD and you don't. Deal with it, get better, and grow as a person as well as an artist. By the way, if you look at all the DD on the bottom of the website you will see, photography, literature, animation, and art in a general sense, it is not limited to photos. You sound very ignorant, I suggest you stop now before you look even more stupid. Honestly.

Why don't you just fuck off? You don't fucking like it, don't view it. Or better yet, start suggesting stuff YOU'D rather see get a deviation.

JFC, like I said, you don't like it, fine. But let this person have their glory and don't be fucking rude.

Also, for the record, I stated that it was alright for you to have your own opinion of the work but you belittled the artist and their work based on your personal opinion of what is considered art - that is not a comment, that is not a critique...that is just being rude.

Again, instead of submitting this to their deviation, my inbox was awaiting your debate.
But for the sake of argument, if you call "THIS is a DD?... honestly?..." a comment that is worthy of posting, as it is not critique NOR is it intelligent in any way, shape or form, nor is it helpful, then you may wish to read over your other 'comment' to me just now and absorb the meaning of the word.

I'm not sure what you got from my comment. I said that you can have your opinion. That's fine.

However, you have the power to suggest deviations that you think are better. That's how this person got it as I can see from looking at the daily deviation spot.

Yes but there still has to be someone to regulate the quality yes?
Someone part of the deviant art team who actually accepts and declines the deviations nominated?

Am I making sense?

if you have a problem with the DD, you should take it up with pullingcandy who featured it. It's rude to publicly belittle someone's hard work like this, so please contact them via note and not comments.
